Read the Terms & Conditions

By submitting an application for the GameUp Academy Game Jam, you agree to the following terms.

  1. Applications and participation

Provide accurate information when applying. Applications are open to current learners, alumni and the general public, subject to the eligibility requirements published on the application page. Registration does not guarantee team placement, prizes or sponsored learning opportunities.

  2. Event rules

Participants must follow the published event schedule, submission requirements and judging criteria. Any participation fees and applicable refund terms will be stated before payment.

  3. Teams and conduct

Treat fellow participants, mentors and organisers respectfully. Harassment, discrimination, plagiarism, cheating and attempts to manipulate voting may result in removal or disqualification. Teams are responsible for agreeing on roles, contributions and ownership arrangements.

  4. Original work and AI tools

You must own or have permission to use all code, artwork, music and other materials included in your submission. Third-party assets and AI tools must comply with the event rules and applicable licence terms. Disclose their use where required, and do not misrepresent another person’s work as your own.

  5. Ownership and showcasing

You retain your rights to the work you create. By submitting a project, you give GameUp Academy non-exclusive permission to review it and display the submitted demo, screenshots and project description for judging, event showcases and reporting, with appropriate credit. You also agree that photographs, recordings and screenshots taken during the event, including sessions and demo day, may be used by GameUp Academy to report on and promote the event. This does not transfer ownership or permit commercial sale of your game.

  6. Judging and prizes

Entries will be assessed against the published judging criteria. Only officially announced prizes and benefits are available, subject to their stated conditions. Participation does not guarantee employment, funding or admission to another programme.

  7. Personal information

Your application information will be handled as described in our Privacy Policy, including for application administration, team matching and event communications. Optional marketing messages require separate consent and are not a condition of participation.

  8. Changes and cancellation

GameUp Academy may make reasonable changes to the schedule or delivery of the event and will notify applicants of material updates. Any cancellation affecting paid participation will be handled under the refund terms provided before payment. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights.
